The Cornerstone


Who we are?

The Cornerstone, a life-group ministry for young married couples of Zion Baptist Church. "Conerstone" reflects our desire to strengthen and deepen our marriage, to grow more intimate with our Lord and to build fellowship with other young married couples, to provide encouragement and challenge as we discover God's purpose in our lives. Through study, preyer and seeking God's heart, we will build strong foundations of our marriages and learn to become better husbands and wives - and better servants of God.

Behind the names:

The Cornerstone: part of a building structure to which importance has been attached in all ages and in many nations, both on account of its actual serviceand its figurative meaning. Ordinarily, its use in the Bible is figurative or symbolical. No doubt the original meaning was some important stone which was laid at the foundation of a building.

In the Bible, there appear to be two conceptions: (a) the foundation stone upon which the structure rested (Job 38:6; Isa 28:16; Jer 51:26); or (b) the topmost or cap stone, which linked the last layer together (Ps 118:22; Zec 4:7); in both cases it is an important or key-stone, and figurative of the Lord Jesus Christ. It beautifully expresses in figures the stability we have in our Lord and Saviour.
